This area of your collage should cover the many different people that make up the nation of Africa. With 11 official languages, South Africa has a wide mix of cultures and diversity. This gives South Africa the nickname of “The Rainbow Nation”. South Africans are passionate about music, often using song and dance to express social and political ideas.

To help the children understand more about the “Rainbow Nation” the following suggestions can be adapted into lessons:

•	Showing the class images or pieces of vibrant tribal clothing
•	Using instruments and making your own tribal chant
•	Learning phrases/words in one of the 11 languages of South Africa
