South African fruit growers are giving UK junior school children in years 5 and 6 the opportunity to learn about South African culture and the chance to win one of three cash prizes to spend on school resources. All they ask in return is that you produce a collage and donate unwanted books to their underprivileged, farm and rural schools.

Your entry pack will give you most of the information required to complete both the collage and book donation part of the competition. However, we have compiled some additional information and resources here to help you on your way.

Additional copies of the entry pack can be downloaded here.

As a group/class you will need to produce a collage that covers at least one of the following topic areas of South African culture:

The Rainbow Nation

“New South Africa”: Learning from political history

A day in the life of a South African farm child

The links above provide more information on the four topic areas. Each topic should be discussed in class and the childrens’ understanding of at least one of these topics should be evident in the construction of the collage.
